Compling Code On the Touchbook

Postby mr.woo » Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:09 pm

I've been trying to compile some code on the touchbook. On the few things that I've tried I keep getting the same error:
Code: Select all
/bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc  -g -O2 -fvisibility=hidden -o libcharset.la -rpath /home/ai/Desktop/opt/lib -version-info 1:0:0 -no-undefined localcharset.lo relocatable.lo
libtool: link: rm -fr  .libs/libcharset.so .libs/libcharset.so.1 .libs/libcharset.so.1.0.0
libtool: link: gcc -shared  .libs/localcharset.o .libs/relocatable.o      -Wl,-soname -Wl,libcharset.so.1 -o .libs/libcharset.so.1.0.0
libtool: link: (cd ".libs" && rm -f "libcharset.so.1" && ln -s "libcharset.so.1.0.0" "libcharset.so.1")
libtool: link: (cd ".libs" && rm -f "libcharset.so" && ln -s "libcharset.so.1.0.0" "libcharset.so")
libtool: link: ar cru .libs/libcharset.a  localcharset.o relocatable.o
ar: -u: (PROGRAM ERROR) Option should have been recognized!?
Try `ar --help' or `ar --usage' for more information.
make[2]: *** [libcharset.la] Error 64
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/ai/Desktop/sandbox/libiconv-1.13.1/primaryBuild/libcharset/lib'
make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/ai/Desktop/sandbox/libiconv-1.13.1/primaryBuild/libcharset'
make: *** [lib/localcharset.h] Error 2

Anybody go some ideas?

Yeah, the TouchBook doesn't have GNU binutils installed by default. Instead it's got some half-baked thing that is mostly useless. Do an "ipkg install binutils" to fix this.

In 2009.11a you'll also need to do "ipkg install libc6-dev" to get a properly working compiler ..
