[10:21] <alextisserant> drantin: dd you place an order for it?
[10:21] <glenhawk> and get our Freekey board
[10:21] <alextisserant> glenhawk: yes
[10:21] <phcoder> drantin: same here
[10:21] <glenhawk> doin it
[10:22] <alextisserant> it will be shipped this coming week
[10:22] <drantin> alextisserant: didn't it require an order id? i bought mine off my dad and he deleted all the requisite emails
[10:22] <gregoiregentil> drantin: it's fine.
[10:22] <alextisserant> put your dad's email in the form, no pb
[10:23] <drantin> eh, filled it in before you linked it here with mine... i have a fairly unusual last name though
[10:23] <zeusone> alextisserant: I ordered a touch book maybe you can ship the kb together
[10:23] <zeusone> alextisserant: no double shipment
[10:23] <Martix> gregoiregentil: before you go, I ordered TB (inc. keyboard) in November and I am still waiting when March batch will arrive and now I won keyboard, could be charged only tablet part in my order?
[10:24] <phcoder> Meizirkki: actually one could say it's 255 if you use hubs
[10:27] <Meizirkki> hmm, everything included said the question :P
[10:29] <drantin> i've never seen 255 usb devices hooked up to the same machine and working...
[10:29] <drantin> s/and/let alone/
[10:29] <DJWillis> Meizirkki: you could say 1 root and the rest are downstream ports off the EHCI PHY ;-), or 2 root ports if you count the OTG ;-)
[10:29] <drantin> despite what the spec says
[10:29] <glenhawk> they'd need to be powered hubs
[10:30] <drantin> wonder how a recent Xorg with the multiple mouse support would be like with 255 mice...
[10:30] <Meizirkki> Or i could say 8 because keyboard part uses one too!
[10:31] <Meizirkki> or then i fail
[10:31] <Meizirkki> because it IS 8
[10:31] <Meizirkki> lol
[10:31] <phcoder> drantin: and touchscreen "just for company"

[11:14] <michaelb> hey how's it going -- I just ran across your website, and am intrigued
[11:15] <michaelb> in the info.html page, it mentions "Some 3D accelerometer-based iPhone games" as a software feature. iPhone games? what? under xfce?
[11:16] <Meizirkki> Crazy Tanks works fine :)
[11:16] <Meizirkki> though, xfce is killed while it runs
[11:16] <michaelb> hm, weird, I didn't realize this was possible.
[11:17] <phcoder> michaelb: currently only ported games. But it's theoretically possible to write a layer similar to wine to use unmodified binaries
[11:17] <rozzin> "the info.html page"?
[11:17] <michaelb> https://www.alwaysinnovating.com/touchbook/info.htm
[11:17] <michaelb> erm, I guess its .html
[11:17] <michaelb> phcoder: ah, okay, that makes a little more sense
[11:18] <rozzin> Ah.
[11:18] <michaelb> (since I assume iphone games -- esp. commercial iPhone games -- are distributed as binaries)
[11:19] * leinir_ (~leinir@amarok/usability/leinir) Quit (Ping timeout: 276 seconds)
[11:19] <phcoder> michaelb: if only as just binaries. But further encumbered by DRM schemes.
[11:19] <rozzin> I thought they basically... weren't distributed.
[11:20] <michaelb> yeah, indeed... I've barely ever used an iphone, so I wouldn't really know. (I have a palm pre)
[11:20] <Meizirkki> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgFSDLunflk btw
[11:21] <Meizirkki> e17 is perfect touchscreen environment
[11:21] <Meizirkki> illume *
[11:21] <michaelb> hm, I'm actually running e17 right now
[11:21] <michaelb> (though I strongly prefer fluxbox)
[11:21] <Meizirkki> Illume keyboard is nice when no hw keyboard near
[11:24] <michaelb> so the screen, how durable is it? like, will it scratch a lot with a stylus?

[11:25] <Martix> Meizirkki: nice video
[11:25] <Meizirkki> Martix, thanks
[11:25] <Meizirkki> michaelb, i had it unprotected in my schoolbag for some days, only one visible scratch
[11:25] <Meizirkki> i have a protector now
[11:26] <Meizirkki> visible i mean visible when you look against light in correct angle
[11:26] <michaelb> yeah, hm okay. it's a really sweet looking device, I'm strongly tempted...
[11:26] <Meizirkki> michaelb, i think it's very good, my n810 screen got scrateched a lot more easily
[11:27] <Meizirkki> durable screen *
[11:27] <Martix> what about porting SHR to TB?
[11:27] <Meizirkki> SHR?
[11:27] <michaelb> openmoko?
[11:28] <Martix> yep
[11:28] <rozzin> So that you can use the Touchbook as a mega-phone....
[11:28] <Martix> E17 based distribution
[11:28] <Meizirkki> isn't SHR just e17Illume + some phone specific stuff
[11:29] <Meizirkki> Touch Book as a cellphone.. meh ;)
[11:29] <Martix> :D
[11:29] <michaelb> Yeah, that'd be kinda awkward
[11:29] <michaelb> heh
[11:29] <rozzin> And I thought people with *phones* were annoying....
[11:29] <rozzin> ;)
[11:29] <Martix> I am talking about porting SHR without phone stuff, but with others Elementary based aplications
[11:31] <rozzin> But on that `using touchbook as a phone' note...:
[11:32] <zeusone> Martix: I am interested too
[11:32] <rozzin> anyone have a pointer to any USB GSM modules?
[11:34] <rozzin> Like... small enough to use comfortably with the touchbook?
[11:34] <phcoder> rozzin: rather in than with
[11:35] <phcoder> Mobile providers often give one for free to new customers
[11:35] <michaelb> I'd just ssh tunnel through my palm pre to get internet, just like with my laptop...
[11:37] <rozzin> michaelb: I have numerous problems with that scheme.
[11:38] <michaelb> rozzin: well, I mean it wouldn't work if you don't have a linux based phone, I guess... but from personal experience it works great
[11:39] * phcoder (~phcoder@90-106.2-85.cust.bluewin.ch) Quit (Quit: Leaving.)
[11:39] <zeusone> Martix: I'm interested to port SHR without phone stuff
[11:40] <Martix> well :-)
[11:40] <zeusone> Martix: should be not so hard ... but I'm not an OE expert
[11:41] <zeusone> Martix: I only set the shr cross compile environment and made some program with elementary
[11:41] <rozzin> michaelb: From my personal experience, using a phone as a USB modem with my laptop worked great, until I need to take a phonecall and pass data simultaneously, or take a call in a different room than where my wife was using my laptop.
[11:41] <Martix> I have few experience with building OE, but not with writing bitbake recipes
[11:42] <zeusone> I already wrote some bitbake
[11:42] <rozzin> michaelb: My recollection about the voice-vs-data issue is that data-transfer would basically get clobbered for the duration of a call.
[11:42] <Martix> rozzin: you need GSM mux

[11:43] <rozzin> Martix: No, I just need calls to not consume any banwidth. ;)
[11:43] <zeusone> Martix: I just released a offline dictionary reader for shr :)

[11:43] * rozzin sighs--
[11:43] <Martix> zeusone: (Y)
[11:43] <zeusone> <Martix
[11:44] <zeusone> what means (Y) ?
[11:44] <rozzin> I need to get the SHR toolchain working again, so that I can release a new version of my own SHR packages. Ble.
[11:44] <Martix> zeusone: thumbs up
[11:44] <zeusone> Martix: ah :)
[11:44] <michaelb> rozzin: yeah, its that way for the pre on sprint too -- no voice and data at the same time
[11:45] <michaelb> rozzin: heh, I guess I rarely use my phone for voice, maybe that's the key ;)
[11:45] <zeusone> rozzin: what the problem with the shr toolchain?
[11:45] <rozzin> Awesome that FSO now has an API for driving the vibrator, but it's not worthwhile trying to write code for it if I can't test it because I can't even *build*.
[11:46] <rozzin> zeusone: The toolchain doesn't build.
[11:46] <zeusone> rozzin: shr-u or testing?
[11:47] <rozzin> zeusone: Well, I think it broke with the transition to the new libc, so my guess would be `both'.
[11:47] <zeusone> rozzin: ahh
[11:47] <rozzin> zeusone: I haven't tried testing, but unstable has been consistently broken since... the end of last year?
[11:47] <rozzin> Oy--
[11:47] <rozzin> since I apparently have time for this right now,
[11:47] <zeusone> http://www.shr-project.org/trac/ticket/764
[11:47] <zeusone> :D
[11:48] <rozzin> I guess I should go talk about it on #openmoko-cdevel.
[11:48] <zeusone> I open the ticket some months ago
[11:48] <zeusone> ya
[11:48] <zeusone> I'm there :)

Once I get time again I will make a gadget driver for cryptographic proof of the gadget existing (so a challenge response w/ nonce) allowing tethering of a device (desktop, laptop) to the TB or other USB dongle. If the dongle is missing then the host device stops functioning (see the linux security/root_plug.c example for something similar but not cryptographically based)
