[7:20] <Pudabudigada> Hello, I wanted to ask; will the smartbook come with an additional back panel to protect its innards once the MID is removed?
[7:22] [Pudabudigada TIME]
[7:32] <Pudabudigada> Also: Will a UK order be shipped with an UK mains adapter?
[7:44] <Pudabudigada> One more: Are wifi/bluetooth dongles part of the motherboard or internal USB devices as I have seen in a video of the original touchbook.

[8:01] <Pudabudigada> Is there anyone here?
[8:18] <Maeslin> not sure Puda
[8:18] <Maeslin> the mains adapter are switching type, they handle any input voltage from 100 to 240V
[8:19] <Maeslin> so while the adapter you receive might have a US plug, you only need a straight converter (maybe 2-3 pounds at most) instead of a voltage converter
[8:20] <Pudabudigada> Cool, thanks, any clue about the other stuff?
[8:21] <Maeslin> no idea about the back panel
[8:21] <Maeslin> as for the wifi/bluetooth part
[8:21] <Maeslin> seems that the touchbook v2 uses an internal wifi chip + a usb bluetooth dongle while the smartbook uses a slightly different configuration
[8:21] <Maeslin> looks like both the bluetooth and wifi are internal
[8:22] <Maeslin> not entirely certain though. I know I've seen pictures somewhere on the website or the wiki
[8:22] <Pudabudigada> So they are still on USB?
[8:22] <Maeslin> wifi seems to be internal to the motherboard
[8:22] <Maeslin> not sure about bluetooth
[8:22] <Pudabudigada> Thanks.
[8:24] <Maeslin> hm
[8:25] <Maeslin> yeah for the smartbook the bluetooth chip is also built in the motherboard
[8:25] <Maeslin> the touchbook v2 uses a regular bluetooth dongle instead
[8:26] <Pudabudigada> Ahh, that would make sense, using usb dongles on the MID would sort of defeat the object...
[8:26] <Pudabudigada> Actually, does the MID have internal USB anyway?
[8:27] <Maeslin> nah there's no space inside the MID
[8:27] <Maeslin> the smartbook has a few internal USB slots in tablet/netbook configuration
[8:28] <Maeslin> here's a picture of the innards of the touchbook v2
[8:28] <Maeslin> http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/images/3/3d/Tablet-board-small.png
[8:29] <Maeslin> and here's a picture of the MID board
[8:29] <Maeslin> http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/images/4/45/MID-board-front-small.png
[8:29] <Maeslin> as you can see, on the touchbook v2 there's a small rectangular module added to the MID board
[8:29] <Maeslin> afaik that seems to be a bluetooth usb dongle
[8:29] <Maeslin> inside the MID, that space is apparently occupied by the webcam
[8:30] <Maeslin> so they have to use an on-motherboard bluetooth chip
[8:30] <Pudabudigada> Do you mean the daughterboard?
[8:30] <Maeslin> that small thing in the middle is the motherboard
[8:30] <Maeslin> the daughterboard is the L-shaped part that goes along the bottom and left side
[8:31] <Maeslin> the daughterboard has a pair of internal USB connectors along with a few external ones
[8:31] <Pudabudigada> Sorry, that's what I meant, it's just the size threw me
[8:31] <Maeslin> yeah that's understandable
[8:32] <Pudabudigada> So that means that the difference bettween
[8:32] <Maeslin> since it's the same motherboard that fits inside the MID (minus the bluetooth? dongle) it's pretty small
[8:32] <Pudabudigada> a touchbook and smartbook tablet is the back panel
[8:32] <Maeslin> well
[8:32] <Pudabudigada> *between
[8:32] <Maeslin> the MID case, screen, touchscreen, webcam, battery, extra connectors, etc.
[8:33] <Pudabudigada> if the mobo in the picture was removed, you couldn't tell the difference.
[8:33] <Maeslin> yeah, in a touchbook v2, if you pull out the motherboard, it's exactly the same as a smartbook with the MID pulled out
[8:33] <Pudabudigada> I meant by 'smartbook tablet' the tablet without the MID
[8:33] <Maeslin> yeah
[8:34] <Pudabudigada> Hat's a pretty efficient way of doing things.
[8:34] <Pudabudigada> *that's
[8:34] <Maeslin> granted the smartbook tablet can't actually do anything without he MID plugged in, except (I think?) operate as an external monitor
[8:34] <Maeslin> but I'm really not sure about that last part
[8:34] <Pudabudigada> Allows for easy upgrade to, if you don't mind taking a saw to your back panel
[8:34] <Pudabudigada> Yeah, I asked that one before.
[8:35] <Maeslin> relatively easy upgrade if you can trade in the tb motherboard for a MID
[8:35] <Maeslin> though if you can trade in the tb motherboard for a MID, you can likely trade in the back panel at the same time
[8:35] <Maeslin> or order an extra one
[8:35] <Pudabudigada> Smartbook tablet is just a MID docking station/screen
[8:36] <Maeslin> + battery and second camera, yes
[8:36] <Pudabudigada> Yeah
[8:37] <Pudabudigada> I just wish al the important info on these things was on the main site.
[8:37] <Pudabudigada> *all
[8:39] <Maeslin> there's a lot of that stuff on the wiki
[8:39] <Maeslin> oh, if you do need an adapter they're even chapter than I thought
[8:39] <Maeslin> http://www.amazon.co.uk/US-UK-Plug-Travel-Adaptor/dp/B0006OFKNC
[8:39] <Pudabudigada> Thnks
[8:40] <Maeslin> and amazon likely isn't the cheapest one you could find
[8:40] <Pudabudigada> *thanks
[8:42] <Maeslin> or here, that first one. More expensive but apparently does everything to everything else
[8:42] <Maeslin> http://www.beststuff.co.uk/electrical_plug_adapters.htm
[9:00] <Pudabudigada> Cheers
[9:00] <Pudabudigada> I'll wait untill I actually order one of these devices though.
[9:01] <Pudabudigada> *until
[9:03] <Pudabudigada> Though I would like to know what shipping costs are likely to be, can I get that info on the site?
